EXFOLIATING YOUR SKIN

Women around the world who are concerned about their beauty should be definitely following the process 'exfoliation' in their regular skincare routine. Our skin should be well cleansed, nourished and protected in order to maintain the suppleness but more than those, exfoliating skin is the first step to be done in order to remove those dead cells from the surface of the skin.

Most women accuse their foundations for not blending onto the skin properly but it's not your foundations mistake, it is actually caused by the lack of exfoliation. Yes! Just imagine, when your skin is filled with ''ugly dead cells'', how could the creams and foundations blend smoothly?

On the other hand, exfoliation of the skin shouldn't be done harshly as well as it would affect the delicate protective layer of your skin. Overall, exfoliation is the key to radiant beautiful skin; before you undergo any nourishing treatments or facials, exfoliating your skin is the important thing to do.

Here are some useful facts and ideas on skin exfoliation to get the most of it:

Balancing the moisture loss during Exfoliation

Though exfoliation helps you get rid of excess dead skin cells and other impurities, it might strip off the natural oils from your skin as well. Not just the dead cells are getting lost, but the natural moisture of your skin too. What can we do to balance it, especially in already dry skin types? Well, a creamy nourishing exfoliating scrub with good exfoliating granules would do the trick. Go for fruit exfoliating scrubs which are cream based, but still effective in the terms of 'exfoliation'. You can also prepare your own face & body exfoliation scrub at home which balances the moisture loss during exfoliation

How often to Exfoliate?

Once in a week is better and twice a week is best [But remember, not too harsh] Use a mild, as well as an effective exfoliating scrub on your face and body to scrub away those dead skin cells. Concentrate more on the rough parts of the body such as the knees, ankles, feet, heels and dark inner thighs. Be delicate to your face and other sensitive parts. Have a warm shower before exfoliation and soon after the exfoliation is done, give yourself a splash of cold water. This process helps in closing the opened skin pores due to the process of exfoliation.

Post Exfoliation Skin Care Ideas

  • Moisturize your facial skin with a rich moisturizer and body skin with your body lotion soon after you're done with your exfoliation process. This ensures the softness and moisture of your skin. Oily skin types would also need a moisturizer after exfoliation, make it 'light' or 'water based' and you're all done.

  • Skin would be delicate and prone to damage by sunlight after exfoliation hence never ever skip your sunscreen after exfoliating your skin. You have just got out your new fresh skin with exfoliation but why should allow the angry sun to damage it? Think!

  • If you're a regular user of  cooling facial gels, get some and refrigerate it for 15 minutes. Apply the cold gel on your facial skin after you are done with your exfoliation process as this would help preventing open pores soothing the skin. You can use fresh Aloe Vera get either for this.

TOP 7 BENEFITS OF LEMON FOR THE SKIN

When life gives you lemons....Use them as a skincare product!

Do you know the TOP 7 benefits of lemons for your skin?

If you need a quick remedy for dull, oily and aging skin, look no further than your fridge! But if you don’t have sensitive skin, lemons can help your complexion in different ways:

#1 Exfoliating - Dull skin begone! Exfoliate with lemon to maintain clear, youthful skin! Lemon fruit acids are ideal for gentle exfoliation; add the vitamin content of lemons and you’ve got a complete skincare treatment right in your kitchen! To exfoliate, apply lemon juice on clean skin for 5-10 minutes then rinse.

#2 Brightening – It’s not a secret anymore that one of the best natural whitening products is lemon.
Rub half a lemon on your face or any darker areas like elbows and knees. Repeat every day until you notice improvement in pigmentation. But remember to use sunscreen all time for increased protection!

#3 Neutralizing environmental damage – Sun, pollution and stress take their toll on your skin. Vitamin C is known to be a potent anti-oxidant that combats the effects of free radicals on your body. Why not use it on your skin as well? It helps prevent wrinkles and helps maintain skin elasticity. Mix a bit of lemon juice in your favourite home made treatment mask to reap the benefits of antioxidants!

#4 Toning – Tired skin is no longer a problem when you have a lemon at hand. Shrink pores and regain your glow with this concoction: in a glass of water, squeeze half a lemon and add a few cucumber slices then shake and let stand for 5 minutes. With a cotton ball, wipe your face for a minute then clean with cold water.

#5 Hydrating and nourishing – Lemons are popular for their Vitamin C content, don’t forget they are also a good source of folate, potassium, magnesium and Vitamin B6. Lemon’s nutrients detoxify, repair and renew skin from the inside out. Use this 20 minute mask to energize your skin: one teaspoon each of lemon, honey and black tea infusion.

#6 Fighting wrinkles – because Vitamin C stimulates collagen formation, using lemon juice in your wrinkle treatments can improve your results. A home made, hydrating wrinkle treatment is a solution made of milk and a bit of lemon juice. Apply it on your face for 10 minutes then rinse with warm water.

#7 Pore cleansing– If your skin is oily, and clogged pores or blackheads are often a problem, lemon can help. Because of its exfoliating and astringent properties, overnight lemon juice treatment on problem areas can help you achieve a beautiful, smooth skin in the morning. Apply with a cotton swab where needed and let dry.

Stay beautiful..

COLOURED MASCARA

It may seem a little odd, we know. But colored mascara can give you a "pop" of color that no other kind of makeup can!
Here i have narrowed it down to the top 3 colors of colored-mascara that is suitable for the most common colored-eyes that work together to compliment and define your eyes.

BLUE MASCARA

Shades of Blue: Awesome for brown and hazel eyes. Makes blue eyes bluer; keeps the rocker chick edge. Navy blue mascara can also make the whites of the eyes appear whiter.

Blue goes with blue, that's why those who are proudly sporting this natural eye color should choose mascara in the same shade.
The market offers a large range of shades from the electric blue to Peacock, Cobalt and even Turquoise. The infinite options will provide you with endless possibilities to pair the mascara color with the eyeshadow.

The overall blue eye effect will do miracles with your image. If you crave for stealing a show, complete your makeup with blue- eyeliner, eyeshadow and finally mascara. There's no limit in testing the different colors. More those who have brown or hazel eyes can also experiment with the blues.

PURPLE MASCARA

Shades of PurpleMake gorgeous green, blue, or hazel eyes stand out even more.

It might seem pretty surprising that purple mascara can just as fabulously polish your makeup as a classy black or brown one. Indeed if creating the right combo the final result will be just as breath-taking. Perfect with blue eyes and also brown and hazel.
In order to look astonishing, still stylish use a brown eyeliner and an eyeshadow that resembles the color of mascara or at least is part of the same family of tones. Move on a larger palette and try out from the deep wine to the amethyst, from the eggplant to the plum hues.

Additionally it is worth knowing that usually colored mascaras can't offer the same visual effect as the classy black and brown mascaras do. The reason is that these will attract the attention but not because of the texture they create but due to the colorful appearance. Whether you decide to apply it to both upper and lower lashes or only the lower ones the result will be just as stunning.

GREEN MASCARA
Shades of Green: Beyond beautiful for the brown eyed babes and hazel eyed hotties, as well as dark green eyes, bringing out the green and gold flecks on the iris.
The green tones can also look fabulous if pulled off with finesse. It is a wise idea to top your makeup with a refined eyeshadow preferably of oceanic tones.
Oyster and pearl colored ones dressed up with a silver eyeliner will definitely score. All you have to do is fix your makeup properly for the long-lasting effect. Brown and hazel eyes will look fantastic with this tiny detail.

TIP: Keep in mind that these colored mascaras are going to draw the attention to your lashes with the color, not necessarily the texture/volume/length like your classic black and brown mascaras will do. You may want to try layering them over your regular mascara or try using them over a mascara primer.

Until my next post, stay beautiful...

Here are ten simple things you can do to prevent and treat acne.

Clear, beautiful, acne free skin is a blessing. Genetics plays a big part but we can modify what we can control to prevent acne and maintain good skin. One can have acne for years before achieving manageable skin.

Here are top 10 ways to maintain clear and acne free skin.

.

1. Clean your face daily with an oil free cleanser
Keeping your face clean is key to having clear skin because it gives the bacteria less chance to grow and clog your pores. Use an oil free cleanser with a small dose of salicylic acid.

2. Exfoliate regularly - Exfoliating your skin with a gentle scrub or glycolic acid help your skin get rid of dead skin cells and generate new ones. This also help keep your pores clear or debris.

3. Use an oil free moisturiser daily -
Choose a moisturiser you feel comfortable wearing. For example, use an oil free cream for night time and an oil free gel for day time. For those with acne, choose one with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide in the moisturiser.

4. Deep clean your face at least once a week
Use a deep cleansing, detoxifying or hydrating mask on your face once or twice a week. This really helps to extract all the oil, dirt and debris from you pores that may have accumulated throughout the week. Do not overuse as it may dry out your skin and overwork your sebaceous glands so you may get oilier.
